Ask your vault
Start a ctrl+p query with ? to ask a question; brothy finds the sections itself.

In ctrl+p, a query starting with ? is a question. With an ai block the placeholder says so and the footer shows ? ask.
- Before you press anything, the pane beside the list (from 100 columns; two muted rows below that) says what ⏎ sends and what comes back.
- ⏎ on the ask row sends only the question (cut at 300 characters, and the row says so). While the model works, a rule and
▍ asking llama3.2 · 3 ssit where the results will appear, and the pane shows exactly what went out. - The model returns search terms. The results are sections brothy finds itself in the vault index, listed as
Matcheswith the word that matched on the right and the terms shown (searched: …). ⏎ opens the section at its first matching line. The model never names a note, heading or line. - Optionally,
↻ rerank with excerptsis a second, separate step: only that row, with its token cost shown first, sends the question plus up to 12 candidate sections (note name, heading path and the first 300 characters of each). The model’s picks becomeAnswers, marked¹ ² ³, with its reasons as footnotes under a rule; the rest stay below asOther matches. - Opening a reranked answer puts its mark after the heading and
¹ <why> · ^p answerson the footer line until you move. ctrl+p then reopens the same question with its answers, the next one highlighted; nothing is sent again, and typing starts a new query. If the heading was renamed meanwhile, brothy lands on the matched word instead and says so.
Nothing found or a failed request ends in next steps, including whether the question left. Nothing from the vault leaves without the rerank row. Ask answers are never written to disk, and one ask runs at a time, counted among the 3 concurrent requests.
